My husband and I have breakfast at the same restaurant several times each week. It’s a couple of towns over and an easy 15 minute drive from our home. I know the drive like the back of my hand. And last week I got lost on the way there. Twice. I was so wrapped up in my thoughts that although I was concentrating on the road, and on driving, it wasn’t until ten minutes in that I realized that I was going in the wrong direction.
Which got me thinking: It’s one thing identifying your goal, but you also need to have a clear idea of the best route to achieve it. Sure you can make pit stops along the way. Hell, even take a detour. But without a defined direction, it doesn’t matter where your destination is, you’re making it all that much harder to get there.
After all, you wouldn’t want to be late for breakfast, right?
