I am not a girl’s girl. I can’t remember ever having gone away on a girl’s weekend, although I guess all girl’s surf camp does cover that. I’ve never been a bridesmaid. Never! Maybe it’s because my close female friends aren’t the kind of girls to get married in a traditional way. That’s if they get married at all! I’ve always had guy friends, and I don’t kid when I say that my best friend is my husband. My best girl friends have always been a little quirky and like me. In fact, at our high school reunion in November, I had to persuade my bestie Tanya to not wear her water stained Ugg boots.
It’s not to say that I’m not girlie, because I think I am. I like clothes and make-up and shopping with a passion. But there’s a difference between being girlie, and having a gaggle of girlfriends. I’m not quite sure if that makes me lacking, and I certainly have passed the bridesmaid days, but I often do wonder, when perusing other people’s girl’s weekends on Facebook, if I’m missing out.
