A couple of times in New York City I’ve tiptoed into a Calypso St. Barth store. I say tiptoed because I don’t really want to sales staff to try and sell me something amongst the gorgeous casually draped clothes and beachy chic housewares. Yes, I love their style, but the price tag has always been a little too large to swallow. Not literally of course. But god bless them, Target has come to my rescue again and provided me with the most delicious (no, not literally delicious) array of Calypso St. Barth goodies scattered across the store. I’m now the proud owner of a beaten silver hurricane lamp and the most divine set of cosmetic cases that made the best accessories for my recent surf trip with the girls. While I’m not a fan of the clothing (there is only so much batik a girl can wear), the accessories are spot on in representing the brand: straw totes, and tye die flip flops, plus luscious scarves, trinkety jewels, and plump pillows. And I just love the flair that Calypso brings to the sometimes tacky little girls’ swimwear department. I think it’s one of Target’s best integrations of a high end brand since Michael Graves and Cynthia Rowley and I’m delighted that there are still items here and there that I’m discovering. Thanks for the treasure hunt, Target, now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to prepare my hammock.
